Honoring What We Believe In
As I have shared with young people all my life, and now particularly in the Lifeplan program, “Stuff happens,” and it’s how we respond to it in life that defines character.
We all experience speed bumps, some more severe than others, but all still demand our resolve to meet whatever challenges we face with our values intact.
We know that life can surely bring us the most unexpected challenges at the most unlikely times, and perhaps these provide a clarion call to remind us that we are never really totally in charge.
If there is a lasting legacy I hope to leave the young people I get to share time with it will be that, “Sometimes, stuff happens,” and it is how we respond to the “stuff” that defines us.
I accept that challenge and will try to honor with my entire being that even though we are never totally in charge, the best thing we can do is to have faith, to be strong, and to remember that optimism is the only philosophy that justifies getting up in the morning!
This hopeful attitude is at the core of Lifeplan, and as this program grows, more and more young people will have this invaluable asset to support them in life with all of the challenges it surely brings. And it will also hopefully help to give them the courage needed to successfully navigate any and all troubled waters.
All the best,
Andy
